The 16th French Film Festival will take place right here in Cebu (Ayala Center Cebu Cinema 4, to be exact) from the 23rd to the 25th of June 2011.
Here are the five films featured this year along with a short description and the screening schedule for each one.
Les Enfants de Timpelbach (Trouble at Timpeltill) - 95 minutes
Directed by Nicolas Bary
This is a family adventure film about a village called Timpeltill, which is inhabited by children who spend their time playing pranks on the adults as well as themselves. To teach them a lesson, the adults left them on their own. Although the parents intended to return at the end of the day, certain events resulted to the children getting abandoned for real. Two of the gangs in the village confronted each other with the goal of gaining full control of the entire village.

Arthur et la Vengeance de Maltazard (Arthur and the Revenge of Maltazard)- 93 minutes
Directed by Luc Besson
This is the sequel to Arthur And The Invisibles. In this action animated feature, our hero Arthur gets reunited with his beloved Princess Selenia. This happens after Selenia sends a distress call to Arthur, so he comes to rescue the Mimoys from the hands of Maltazard.

Un Poison Violent (Love Like Poison) - 90 minutes
Directed by Katell Quillévéré
This French drama revolves around how a young woman's life starts to change after she gets home one summer from a Catholic boarding school and find out that her father has left. Since her mother is with the local priest, she has no one else to cling to for comfort but her grandfather. Her faith is shaken as she befriends a teenager who does not share the same amount of faith in God as she has.

Dans les Cordes (On the Ropes) - 90 minutes

Since they were kids, Angie and Sandra have been into boxing. When they fight each other during the French Championships, the equilibrium maintained within the family is shook as a rivalry forms between the two boxers and sisters.

Le Marquis (The Marquis) - 88 minutes
Directed by Dominique Farrugia
This is a comedy film about a small-time salesman who is arrested for minor charges but ends up pretending to be "The Marquis" to acquire his inmates' respect. The Marquis is actually a highly popular thief who has remained anonymous over time. Before the salesman is released though, he is taken out of prison by an armed robber who breaks into it just to take "The Marquis" with him to the Philippines to be a part of a robbery. This was partially shot in Cebu.
